“I have struggled with my weight most of my life. When I reached my high of 183 pounds in my early twenties, I knew I had to make some changes. I began watching what I ate and started working out. I lost 30lbs and was able to maintain for over 15 years. Despite consistently working out and food portion control, as I reached my early 40’s, my body fat percentage began to increase and I began putting on weight. For the 1st time, I decided to try personal trainers. I met with a few who were good, but after a year I was still 160lbs and 32% body fat.
I had the opportunity to meet some of the clients who trained with Bristol Jenkins. I saw some of their remarkable transformations. They were all so fit! I met with Bristol and his lovely wife Kenyatta. We discussed my struggles and my goals. Bristol patiently explained how the body metabolizes food and put me on a nutritional plan. I began working out with him 2x/week and followed the nutrition plan. After 5 months of starting with Bristol, I exceeded my goal. I went from a size 10 to a size 4, lost 20lbs and over 12% body fat.

“As I was growing up, I was always on the thinner side, though not necessarily fit. I wasn’t involved in any sports, and coordination was never my strong suit. I have had some periods of time where food was my friend, and I had gained weight. Though I then would lose it, it has been a constant struggle to maintain the weight that made me feel comfortable in my own skin.In the year prior to joining BBB, I had reached an all-time high with my weight, and was miserable and disappointed in myself that I had yo-yoed to that degree.My eating habits were haphazard, and decisions were not made with much forethought or planning. My job involves a lot of sitting at a desk or in the car, and is somewhat sedentary, which didn’t help. 9 months ago I started working out at BBB & I have lost 27 pounds and many inches. My attitude is better, my clothes fitagain, and I feel fit and healthy. I am much more conscious of the food that I eat as well as the alcohol I consume, and am finding that my achievement is causing other people in my life to be motivated as well. It is so gratifying to have taken control, and made a conscious decision to change the way I felt and looked, and have done it! How great to also impact others,and inspire them to do the same. My daughter has been motivated by my change, and has just lost 25 pounds as well. My confidence level has increased incredibly! I carry myself better, I feel proud, and like the way I feel in my clothing. I smile more, have a better attitude, and am so much more confident. The way you feel impacts the way you present, and I have a sparkle in my eyes that hasn’t been there in a long time. I have come a long way since that snowy Friday in March where I sat at Bristol’s desk, crying and feeling so awful about myself. It has been a total transformation, both emotionally and physically. “Background: Darryl is a commercial insurance manager with over 20 years experience in the industry. Lila works for the public school district currently as a lunch aide. We have three girls: Amber (19); Aleya (15); and Angelina (12). We have been married almost 22 years. Although our health had not been a concern, certain issues were starting to arise at the end of 2015. Darryl’s sugar level was inching closer toward the pre-diabetic stage and Lila was diagnosed with high blood pressure and starting taking medication for it. We were not very aware nutritionally and not very active either. It had been years before we engaged in any planned physical exercise and we both gained weight over the years. “I’ve always worked out in some way or another. I ride a bicycle during the warm weather, I ski, I’ve lifted weights, had gym memberships, and workout equipment at home. “I have always been an advocate of healthy lifestyles and fitness. I started to battle some health issues for about 18 months. For the first time in my life I was not in a state of optimal health. I have been training at bodies by Bristol for a number of years now. This past August I decided to take my training a bit more serious. I spoke to Bristol and we put some realistic goals in place. “I have overcome many health challenges in the last 16 years that I have been training with Bristol. I was diagnosed with later stages of cervical cancer at 36 years old. The treatment plan was aggressive. It was surgery, radiation , internal radiation and chemotherapy …That was a fight that truly took my body 5 years to overcome . In the wake of treatment, I developed thyroid disease and nuclear radiation was necessary . Thyroid eye disease proceeded and digestive issues have been a daily struggle due to the amount of treatment my body endured. My journey in the fight against cancer created many health challenges following my treatment plan. I always refused to throw in the towel , and in the process I have reinvented myself. I learned about natural health, nutrition and herbs. These were compliments to the clinical care I received that were necessary to heal. These certifications have proved invaluable to me. “I’m a Wife, Mother, Sister, and Friend. A university professor by trade but opened a learning center this past summer for adolescent students in all subject areas. I ran competitively in high school and college: cross-country, winter & spring track. 10000, 5000, Distance Medley, and Anchored the 4×8. After school, I continued distance running half marathons and other road races. Running has always been my fitness go-to. Love being outside and use that time for reflection and prayer.
